Snowmobilesafari to Miekojarvi Lake in the Arctic Circle

The varied route winds through the northern areas of Sweden and Finland following traditional winter trails, frozen rivers and roads of ice. Lasting tree days and covering many hard kilometres, the safari gives you an interesting impression of the riverside settlements and the wide reaches of hill scenery beyond.

 

First Day from Tornio to lake Miekojarvi

After a big hardy breakfast we will start holeday snowmobilesafari to the Arctic Circle and the lake Miekojarvi. We will be traveling through a landscape of rolling hills. Miekojarvi is the biggest lake in western Lapland.... more details in offer 

The Second Day in lake Miekojarvi; icefishing and visit to the reindeerfarm

Good to know

The safaris includes; accommondations during safari, breakfasts, luchs, dinners, snowmobilerent and fuel. Winterclothings, service car for luggages and confirmed services. Pick up services from Kemi-Tornio airport.
Guiding trail conditions may vary due to changes in weather and snow.

Normally that safari is possible to arrange from February to March. Notice that all safaris need to confirmations. Trip is about 300 km on moderately difficult trails and we prefer the participants to have normal physical conditions.
Groups must be at least 6 people and at the most 12 people on one group.
(If you have bigger group, no problem, but please ask details how we arrage safari).

Breakfasts and dinners at the places of accommodation, lunch and snacks on the road.
Accommodations are in logg house and farmhouse. Note, some nights in shared accommodations.
Every evening is possibility to go sauna.

Equipment in Miekojarvi logcabin; gas hot plate, candle lighting, bunks, iron stove heating, outdoor toilet, lakeshore sauna.
Each safari begins with a driving lesson during which the participants are briefed on technique and safety rules.
We provide guidance in English.

Clothing and Equipment
Each participant is given the necessary clothing and equipment for the duration of the safari. Clothes to be worn under the overalls during the winter season should be light warm and comfortable.

Your clothing:
Underwear: "breathable" material, e.g. thermal underwear
Socks: cotton socks worn under woollen socks
Trousers: loose-fitting, fleece, cotton or similar
Shirt: loose-fitting, high collar, cotton or similar
Sweater: wool, fleece or similar

Insurance
Snowmobiles are insured, as required by the Finnish Traffic Insurance Act. This insurance covers medical care for injuries to the driver and the passenger arising from accidents. Personal injuries and damages to other parties while driving a snowmobile are fully covered according to the Finnish Traffic Insurance.
Self liability
Safari participants are held liable for damages caused to snowmobiles. Self liability is 600 EUR for snowmobiles.
Driving terms
The driver of a snowmobile must be 18 years old with a valid driving licences. As the responsible safari organizers, we reserve the right to change the routing and duration of the excursions if necessary, according to the prevailing weather and snow conditions, or if deemed advisable for the sake of safety and the comfort of the participants. We also reserve the right to discontinue the safari if a participant is seen as a potential danger to him/herself or to others.
