Hunting
In Finland it is possible to hunt 34 species of mammals and 26 species of birds. The main game species are the capercaillie, black grouse, hazel grouse, willow grouse, northern hare, brown hare, moose and white-tailed deer and, among waterfowl, the mallard. Fur game include the fox, racoon dog, badger, mink, beaver, muskrat and pine marten. Bears, wolves and lynx belong to large predators.
In order to hunt in Finland each hunter must have:

Hunting rights or a hunting permit granted by a land owner or holder of hunting rights a firearms licence in cervine and bear hunting:
a certificate of a passed shooting test for certain species of game, a hunting licence .

Everyone who wishes to hunt must pay a game management fee to the state each hunting year. In order to obtain a Finnish hunting card, a foreign hunter must present a hunting card valid in his native country or some other certificate of his right to hunt in his own country.
The fees vary widely depending on the game animal species and the area.

Moose hunting in the Tervola village
Season; from october to november
There are two methods of hunting: chasing and using a dog.
Programme First day
Guests arrive at Kemi -Tornio airport.
We visit the shooting range to set our weapons and receive bear hunting training. Briefing and run-though of day’s hunting. A course in luring and chase hunting moose is included. Accommodation in the Kukkolavillage, in Nordic Safaris guesthouse. Sauna and dinner.

Second and third days:
Breakfast at time 0530 am
After a hearty breakfast we make for the hunting grounds. (60 min drive)
The morning begins with chase hunting, exciting form of hunting which with luck can give us a shot at a really big bull moose.
For the rest of the hunting day, the guest stays with the dog-handler or stand hunting for moose. We take a break during the day for an outdoor lunch and refreshments.
Sauna and dinner at time 0600- 0800 pm
Departure day
We start the day with breakfast and travel home.
When the quota for adult moose is filled, hunting is for calves.
Only calibres from 308 and up are permitted.
Trophy fee - ask prices for trophy. Notice that moose is real wild animal, no catch guarantees.
The hunting can be physically demanding and good fitness is required.
Package includes:
two days’ moose hunting, dog-handler/hunting guide, state hunting permit,
outdoor lunches and forest refreshments, accommodation in multi-berth cabins with sauna.
Transports from /and to - the airport ( Kemi-Tornio airport) within the hunting area.
Other transporter is arranged as agreed.
Weapons and personal gear are the responsibility of the guest(s).
Not included: Flights and alcoholic beverages.
